VOICE REVIEW is about just what it says–brief reviews of authors’ voices.
[Brackets indicate Adult or Young Adult. Adult fiction may contain explicit love scenes.]
For the reader:
In the world of small presses and self publishing, besides word of mouth, where are readers to go to get smooth-flowing, clearly understandable, yet unique and non-formulaic prose? No one can guarantee an amazing story from beginning to end, but here—tagged by genre—you’ll find featured clear and accessible writing.
For the author:
Without writing ten novels, as some best-selling authors suggest, how can a new author find his own unique voice to help him stand out to readers, editors, and agents?
From everywhere–the worlds of poetry, new experimental authors, and my favorite ones–I’ll post the products of my search for unique voices and their possible impacts on the reader.
Select the title of the quote and be taken to a page where I’ll give my own interpretation as to why that voice grabs me.
Now it’s your turn to analyze the quote and tell others why you think the author’s grammatical style creates his/her unique voice. Or post a few sentences of your own work, and explain how you used similar techniques to bring out the voices of your characters. [Please, let’s focus here on mostly Twitter-length posts. Thank you.]
At the end of my praise and/or analysis, find a link to the author’s website.
For those authors who want to be featured on Voice Review, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to your work. Thanks.
